Credit Saturday Night Live (SNL) with being willing to take on the most controversial subject in American media today – the drawing of Mohammed. While they happen to put together a pretty funny little skit, they don’t carry the mockery as far as I would have liked to have seen… but at least they tried. Over the years SNL has generally focused on easy targets like conservatives, so whenever they wade into more “controversial” waters they should be applauded.
In this skit we see the SNL cast members playing a game that seems similar to “Win, Lose or Draw” when one of them is instructed to draw a picture of Mohammed. What ensues is a few moments of obvious fear and trepidation as the contestants obviously have no desire to risk drawing that dangerous image.
Game show contestant Daniel Hoffman (Bobby Moynihan) and his celebrity teammate, Reginald VelJohnson (Kenan Thompson), must draw the prophet Muhammad if they want to win $1 million.
