Sarah Palin apologized to conservatives Thursday for her loss alongside John McCain to President Barack Obama in the 2008 election.
Following her speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference, she was asked to give a one-word answer to the words “Barack Obama.”
“Sorry,” she said with a shrug, and then added apologetically: “We came in second out of two!”
She repeated her apology when asked to respond to the words “Hillary Clinton.”
She was thrown a bone with the final question — whether she believes the media treats Republicans who run for office differently than Democrats.
“Yes,” she responded.
The apology followed a remarkably focused speech on veterans that was met with a standing ovation. She slammed the Veterans Affairs Office for its treatment of veterans, slammed the Obama administration for its lack of moral clarity and slammed bureaucrats for holding the military back with rules for political correctness.
“We must provide our troops the political will and rules of engagement to win,” she said.
