As we grew up, we found that it was only when others pointed it out that there were any differences with people. Some of us might have more pigment than others, others might have a different texture of hair. But all in all, we all had the same likes and dislikes mostly. So, when people started talking about Affirmative Action and diversity, most people saw that there was a need.
Over the last several years, we have found that the word diversity has become a catch all Leftist phrase. It is a way in which people have wedged political and socio-economic gains. They have done this under the guise of us being “color blind.” We are told that we should want the best candidate, businessperson, and partner. That there should be no regard made over color or race. So what does the left do when they have done too good a job?
A San Francisco middle school principal withheld the results of the first student council election in years because the winners were white, Asian and mixed-race–and not black or Hispanic.
Lena Van Haren, 36, decided that because Everett Middle School is 56% Hispanic, 18% white, 20% white, 9% black, and 5% Asian, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, the October 10 results should have reflected that diversity.
Now, what we are being told is that since there is so much disparity in the number of white kids, there should not be so many of them on the council. So, when the majority of students in a school are white, and they choose people that are white, then they are racist. They should have chosen who was best and not based their decision on color. But when kids who are non-white choose white people are not being diverse enough.
On October 15, she sent an email to parents that stated, “This is complex, but as a parent and principal, I truly believe it behooves us to be thoughtful about our next steps here so that we can have a diverse student council that is truly representative of all voices at Everett.”
Van Haren expressed her chagrin over the results, telling KTVU, “That is concerning to me, because as principal I want to make sure that the voices are all heard, from all backgrounds.”
But has this not been the goal of the diversity movement? Was that not the point? Were we not seeking to have a culture that looked past our outward appearance and into the “content of our character,” as Dr. King so eloquently taught us? Did we not want our fellow students and citizens living together as one people, without regard to this false idea of race?
Simply put, no that is not what they wanted. King wanted it; I believe he did, and that is probably the real reason he was killed. His movement has been hijacked and killed by bigoted money grubbing talking heads. No, what these people want is to silence whites. To remove them from power.
Withholding the results for over a week, on October 19, Van Haren stated, “We paused to have a conversation. I never, ever said we wouldn’t share the results or they weren’t good enough. This is middle school. It’s not a presidential election. It was not about hurting democracy or putting diversity over democracy.”
She added, “It’s not OK for a school that is really, really diverse to have the student representatives majority white. The easy thing would have been to announce the results and move on. I intentionally did not choose the easy way because this is so important.”
It is not okay for kids to choose their leaders for themselves. It is not okay if they do not choose them according to the color of their skin or their ethnic backgrounds. Is this not letting the cat out of the bag? This woman is showing us the real color of diversity.
Make no mistake, the diversity movement is about power, and this illustrates the fact.
