Rogen Calls out Carson on Holocaust and Gun Control

I have never been one to take the comments or opinions of Hollywood actors to mean much.  I mean, after all, they are people pretending to be other people for money.  They have very little if any connection to real people or life in general.  But, it is especially hard when the opinion is one of such very classless fool as Seth Rogen.  He has to resort to crudité to gain laughs, so when he attacks Presidential Candidate Dr. Carson for his comments on guns and the Holocaust you would think that it would hardly be news.  But there is a reason that it is news.

The reason is that Seth is not the only person who has attacked the good Doctor.  Others have contested Carson’s comments as being “historically inaccurate.”

The Washington Post reported

Jonathan A. Greenblatt, national director of the Anti-Defamation League, responded in a statement that Carson “has a right to his views on gun control, but the notion that Hitler’s gun-control policy contributed to the Holocaust is historically inaccurate.” He added that “gun control did not cause the Holocaust; Nazism and anti-Semitism did.”

Not to attack Greenblatt, but he either missed part of what Carson said, or he misunderstands the relationship of words to one another in the English language.  Carson never said that gun control caused the Holocaust.  That would be a foolish statement.  Carson said

ABC reports

“I think the likelihood of Hitler being able to accomplish his goals would have been greatly diminished if the people had been armed,” Carson said on CNN Thursday. “I’m telling you there is a reason these dictatorial people take guns first.”

Now, this is much different.  What Carson said was that the people murdered by anti-Semitic Nazis would have had a better chance of surviving had they had guns.  Now, the reason that the fool and the director were so upset over the statement of the good Doctor was because this does not fit into their Leftwing political paradigm.

If people find out that it is better for them and their families to legally keep their guns, they will be less likely to freely give them up to the sheriff when he comes to confiscate them.  We are less likely to vote for any idiot who calls for their ban.  If you know that there is a chance that your daughter or son might be slowly starved or worked to death because you liked life too much to deny the government your firearm, you might change your mind.

But, in an official statement, the Anti-Defamation League explained their rejection of Carson’s statement.

ABC continued

The Anti-Defamation League condemned the comments, saying in a statement: “Ben Carson has a right to his views on gun control, but the notion that Hitler’s gun-control policy contributed to the Holocaust is historically inaccurate. The small number of personal firearms available to Germany’s Jews in 1938 could in no way have stopped the totalitarian power of the Nazi German state.”

This again is a misunderstanding of Carson’s statement.  He said that it would be “harder,” he did not say that Hitler would not have rounded them up.  Carson’s point seemed to be that it would have been a more dangerous and difficult task to take and kill families if they were armed.  And unfortunately, the fool seems to have less understanding of the statement than Greenblat did.

Breitbart reports

“They implied that if their [right-wing] politics were applied to the Holocaust that Jews wouldn’t have been killed,” Rogen said. “To me, it wasn’t just about the Holocaust thing. It was about the [Oregon] shooting and how he said that people shouldn’t just stand there and let themselves get shot, and that the correct thing to do if someone has a gun in your back is to point them at someone else and have them go rob that person?”

Wait, what?  What is Rogen talking about?  Was he high?  Who said anything about having the shooter go to the next person?  That’s not how that works.  And what is the bit about robbing the next guy?  No one was talking armed robbery.  Carson was talking about being shot in the face for being a Christian and fighting back so that no one else dies once he was shot in the face.  I don’t think Carson is the one who is bonkers.

This is why I have no time for want-to-be people who are overpaid and have no connection to the real world.  Actors it seems are worse than the uber-rich.  Too much money to know what it takes to live in the real world.
