For many years, there has been the awareness that our higher educational institutions were run by radical leftist. Many have recognized that they were seeking not to teach but to indoctrinate our children. Many believe that these colleges have been the main reason for the liberalization of the people of America. And after a hundred years or more someone is seeking to do something about this.
The Christian Post reports
Presidential candidate and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, along with the conservative group Leadership Institute, have started an online petition calling for the liberation of America’s universities and colleges from the influence of “liberal extremists.”
The problem some might have with the petition is that we are not told what actions will be taken. So, the signers might be advocating the shooting of these liberal professors, though this is unlikely. But it points to a problem in the Conservative Movement in America.
There is no doubt that there is work to be done in our country. There is no doubt that we have strayed from our original path and the intent of our founders. Action needs to be taken and soon, but what action? Just as with the case of the NSA phone records, any action may not be good action. We have become like a child lost in the woods; we do not know where we are and so running in any direction may prove deadly. There comes a time to stop and collect ourselves. But the petition uses strong language to push for action.

The petition goes on to state that students in American universities today deserve to be freed from “liberal oppression.”
“Whereas, the conservative movement owes it to our young people to fight to liberate our colleges and universities from this liberal oppression,” the petition asserts. “Therefore, Be It Resolved, that I do hereby support Senator Rand Paul and the Leadership Institute’s fight to save our students through a massive program of organization, training, and support. No more retreating. It’s time to liberate our college campuses!”
I agree with the assessment of the problem. Many in our country entered University holding to conservative views and have come out a liberal. As I reported yesterday, there is definitely a biased staff in most universities. And we as parents and citizens should demand that this bias be watered down. But, there is a problem. It is a problem that needs to be understood. We cannot avoid the fact that we are going to see the university make our children into something. So what will the standard be?
We need to not fool ourselves into thinking that there is some kind of middle ground. There is no such thing as neutrality when it comes to thinking, teaching, and believing. To teach is to form. Christ said it best.
A pupil is not above his teacher; but everyone, after he has been fully trained, will be like his teacher.
The issue then for me is that of the teacher. Who will be the teacher? Will you demand that he/she is a Christian? If not, then what good have we really done. A conservative unbeliever is as bad as a liberal unbeliever. They both will destroy our children and our country. If God’s word is not the standard, the standard is wrong.
