I have to confess that I have a small love affair with South Carolina. Living on the border, I have been trying for twenty years or more to convince my wife that life is better in South Carolina. The tax burden is lower, and you have to love the people in South Carolina. They exemplify true Southern charm. There is one problem though with South Carolina, Lindsey Graham. It is one of the most baffling things. How in God’s name does he continue to be reelected? He has backed the short-lived support of ISIS when they were in Syria. He has been just right of center and can be described as a moderate, but I think he is a RINO. But that is not the worse. He has once again shown that he is complete out of touch with reality.
Vox.com is reporting
Republican senator and presidential maybe-hopeful Lindsey Graham stopped by the “politics and pies” forum in Concord, New Hampshire, today, where he announced that if he is elected president in 2016, his first act will be to deploy the military in Washington to force Congress to reverse cuts to the defense and intelligence budgets.
What we have here is a man who is either so confident that his view is right, that separation of powers is unneeded, or a man who is too stupid to know what he said is both unconstitutional and scary. Graham has said some stupid things before, but this has to take the cake. He said that he would force the Congress of the United States to vote his will. He would hold duly elected Congressmen hostage until they gave him what he wanted.
What this would do would be to make us wish for the tyrant we have in the White House now if Graham were to come to power. Compared to Graham would look like a libertarian.
As Tim Brown Said
Lindsey Graham’s comments are those of a dictator, not a man suited to be president. Nowhere in the US Constitution would he be authorized to make such actions. In fact, they would trump the criminal activities of the current usurper of the White House.
According to Sons of Liberty Media
Graham’s office told Mediaite (something they won’t even do for me, one of Graham’s employers in the State of South Carolina) that “Graham was employing over-the-top humor to win over his audience.”
If this was the case, that it was “over-the-top humor,” I hope he now sees that it was not in the least bit funny. It is not something that Americans can afford to take lightly. Our constitution is all but ignored, and he is talking about using military force against Congress? How is this even remotely funny?
More probable, Graham thought that he would not be heard outside of that room. In an environment in which he felt safe, Graham reveals how he wished to take care of the situation. We have to be very careful with the politicians we support. The left is not the only ones who can and have taken away freedom.
May God give us wisdom.
