Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-OH) is back at it again, trying to convince everyone else that he is totally a “real” conservative. A few weeks ago he was working the anti-establishment angle when he said:
“During my years here when I voted, I had the eighth most conservative voting record in the Congress. And it does pain me to be described as spineless or a squish.
And I tell you what pains me the most is when they describe me as the establishment.
Now, I’m the most anti-establishment speaker we’ve ever had…”
Now he’s moved on from being anti-establishment and he’s trying to convince Americans that he was “Tea Party before there was a Tea Party.”
Listen, I was the Tea Party before there was a Tea Party. I understand their concerns. I understand their frustrations. But we have a “Constitution” that we abide by and we’re going to live by. And that means we’ve got separate and equal branches of the government. And whether people like it or not, Barack Obama is going to be the president for the next two years. We’ve got to find a way to hold him accountable and try to find common ground to get things done on behalf of the American people.
I’m not sure there is anyone out here who’s buying it, Speaker Boehner… not buying it at all.
