Former Governor of Alaska and Vice Presidential Candidate, Sarah Palin (R-AK) recently appeared on the Hannity show on Fox News to discuss the media’s double standard in their coverage of the Duggar Family story.
Particularly, Palin pointed to how the media heaped praise on Lena Dunham for her bravery in admitting that she had sexually molested her little sister. Today Dunham admits no remorse, admits no wrongdoing, and even blames conservatives for any blowback that she faced (though it was minimal and only from conservatives).
Flash then to the Josh Duggar situation, where you have a boy of 14 whose parents turn him in to the authorities to help deal with the situation. Years later Josh Duggar’s past sins are revealed, and he not only readily admits his crimes and failings, but does so with great remorse and pain. He begs forgiveness (again) from his family and then from the people who have come to respect and love his family through their TV show. Does the liberal media treat the Duggar situation as they did the Lena Dunham one? Not at all. No the media treats Josh Duggar as a perverse criminal and uses the situation to shame Christians everywhere as if his sin somehow heaps shame on us all.
Did the media turn Dunham into the pariah that they’ve made Josh Duggar? Of course not. Dunham is as popular as ever within liberal media circles, and she will never face recrimination (in this life) for her indiscretions and failings. Meanwhile, Josh Duggar will likely live the rest of his life under a cloud of shame and nothing will ever be the same for him or his family.
It’s a grotesque display by the media, and one that will no doubt be completely ignored, because the media exists and operates within their own little bubble of denial.
Which is why it is so important to have visible and influential people like Sarah Palin be willing to stand up and shout back at the darkness in the media. She is right and she should be heard.
These girls are being re-victimized, for shame on the media for, under the guise of ‘Hey, gotta let them have their say anyway,’ let’s interview them and put them there, back into the fire, and let them explain. They’re innocent!
