Our good friend Jonathon Dunne has recently made an interesting argument that conservatives should be using the upheaval on American campuses to change those colleges for the better. Speaking specifically of Mizzou’s recent unrest but also applying the idea more broadly, Dunne argues that we conservatives could be agitating for long-term changes to college campuses everywhere.
There is trouble in Paradise and in the Utopia of Universities as students are demanding Professors resign and the removal of statues and books belonging to Thomas Jefferson and Woodrow Wilson. The question remaining is how will Conservatives react? Will they pay any attention? Will they enjoy every minute of it? Or will they see and take advantage of the great opportunity this presents for real lasting change on both college campuses around the country and in our everyday lives.
